I happen to like maxi dress these days. I already made 4 maxi dresses. I'm going to make another with different style after I finish my current project. These two, you see on the pic are basically long rectangular plain fabric with elastic shirring. Maybe the hard work is to insert the elastic.... but once the machine set up, it shouldn't be hard.

When I go outside, I like to add crop jacket or bolero as cover up. Otherwise my shoulder would feel naked. The other thing I like with these two is that I can wear it bra-less, bcoz the elastic shirring is sturdy to hold my chest.

Do you see the football pitch behind me??!!
Maxi dress for a change ^^
One simple basic easy pattern for these dresses.
I use left over material except for the stripes, it's a new fabric.
Old obi belt folded in two, wore it on the hip.
I worked with serger / overlock machine.

Went out already with the girls for a coffee,... but then why I didn't take any picture of our meeting..??!!!!

It was our 6th anniversary,... and I accidentaly cook! I made fried prawns and squid with flour, potatoes puree and stir fried veggy. The fried food was delicious,... but honestly, heavy to digest. So,... happy anniversary!

Apparently,,, this is my first time creating the front placket for a dress ....
When I was working on this dress,,, I didn't notice that the opening is a placket opening. I thought, placket opening wouldn't put me in the hair pulling situation ... lol.... I searched on the internet, couldn't actually find the instructions that fit my need. In the end,,, I solved with my own way of attaching front placket,,... I'll show you how I did it in the next post, when I sew dress for my sister.... yeaaaa... I'm going to sew another dress from the same pattern, I might do some alteration coz apart from the placket, this one is relatively easy to sew, and I don't want to stress myself out this moment of PMS!
I wore the dress with obi belt, but according to my husband taste, he likes it more without, too bad I didn't have the pic, when I wear the dress lose...
I walked outward, and then toward my husband so that he can take a picture of natural me,... coz otherwise I can't help not to pose ;p
When I saw this white impeccable vespa,.. I thought,,, yaayyyy!!! I want a picture with her...!!... so there I was, a little awkward... bcoz I was afraid the owner will yell at me,.. ^^
Pictures above are taken in the town of Santa Cruz Tenerife, they have a botanical,.... I think... garden which is superb! Full with big trees... very relaxing spot in the middle of this town. The only thing I dislike from this town is that, they don't have sufficient parking space for the car. Many cars parked illegally on the road, very much disorder. We forced to do the 45 minutes round to park the car. Stressfull!

Luckily I went to the flea market this morning,....
seriously,... you won't know what you might find in this secondhand market. I didn't want to go at first, bcoz it was sunny,... oh, well it is always sunny most of the time here.. but luckily.. again!.... my husband pushed me to go with him. In fact he didn't get anything this time.
I managed to get a small leather bag, Italian brand for 5 euro. My husband tried to bargain for 4 euro,.... ha! the guy refused to give us. The bag is practically new, ... I check entirely for some defect but couldn't find any. So.. lucky,... again!..
I also bought a pair of newish sunglasses for 2 euro!!! Defect-less ...
I blogged about the market already HERE long ago if you fancy to check the market yourself... just don't forget to gear up yourself with hat, sunglasses, bottle of water,.... I even carried parasol with me,.. I was glad for that.

Every saturday morning,...
there is an organic vegetables market in Adeje. It is very close to Lidl, right in front of Macro,.. so you won't get lost when you try to reach the market. I often go there to fill up my fridge with real and fresh food. You see,... I cut on package food alot these days. I try to eat only fresh veggy and fresh fruits. Even better if I can get the organic one, I'd rather pay more than eat rubbish ready meal microwave food,... I mean seriously, it's bad.... very bad for human health
That particular saturday morning, I was indeed dressed up... apply lipstick which I rarely use these day... That's why I insisted so much to have my picture taken. My husband kept saying,..: don't pose.. don't pose,... stand straight without posing,... Uffaaaaa!!! no fun having your picture taken without posing isn't it? I can't actually remember when I didn't pose everytime my pict taken.... oh well, surely posing is not a crime ...

I made the dress looonngggg timmmeee ago ,... however, the white bolero is a left over material, recently made. I added the belt, which I like more than without for this dress. Without the belt, really show my belly in evidence... and I dislike it. So the belt meant to work as a distraction in this case.

I went to the beach today ....
to celebrate : me recovered from the fever few days ago ^^,... a happy day. It was nice bcoz the beach was free from the tourist,...hahaha .. all tourist went home already, they will come again in december though,...  Too bad it was very wavy. The coastguard put up a RED Flag, means : not allow to swim! The guy keep whistling to everyone everytime someone come close to the water.... annoying, really.
We went to the same place like last time, Playa Arena. Usually we go to Playa San Juan,  it's closer than any other.... and the water is relatively calmer... bcoz it's a bay...
btw, I haven't start sewing .... my sewing mojo isn't return yet.... very sad...hahaha

I made this plate after my friend, Cecilia kindly brought me the ready made peanut sauce package . Let see what I add to spicen up this Indonesian home dish....
First of all, I use the ready made peanut sauce, I just add hot water. You can buy this in Asian or International supermarket. But if you really want to make th sauce from scratch then follow this recipe,... it's optional, coz in the end it is up to your preference.

Peanut Sauce recipe :
  • 100 gr peanuts (fried or roasted), crush until powdery.

Blend all these ingredients below and mix it with the blended peanuts.

  • 2 garlics
  • chilli
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1tsp roasted shrimp paste (if you like)
  • 25gr palm sugar
  • 1tsp lime juice
  • 100cc water (watch the consistency of the sauce, you like it liquid or a bit dense)

That's for the peanuts sauce, congratulations if you manage to make it from scratch.
In my case, I use this list of vegetables below :
  • fresh carrots, beetrout, tomatoes, and courgette
  • boiled beans sprout
  • boiled eggs
  • fresh coriander
Additional :

  • shrimp cracker
  • pan fried cereal bread from Lidl (when it fried, it can be tempe substitute)
Honestly,... when you live abroad, somehow you manage to be creative in the kitchen once in a while. I'm not good at cooking, it's just accidentaly cook.

The very first time I make Bermuda (male pants) for HIM .....
When I looked at the pattern scheme, I got intimidated right away ... that is why I've postponed the project until the last minute when my husband claimed for his "bermuda" .
Picture
I supposed to make a joint on the pants, instead I cut it as one piece,... no wonder it drape funny ;(. (Pattern no. 530) size 54 (big for him)
The thing I hate is drafting the pattern, then transfer it to the fabric and cut it. I like when I start to sew especially when it's smooth ....hhmmmm...

I drafted the pattern one size too big for him, I didn't realize ... I must have thought,... better bigger than smaller. I did some alterations here and there,... quiet alot actually.
I assembled the whole pieces first, like attaching the side pockets, make holes for the front panel pockets,...attaching the zipper.... basically everything! The pants has to be 90% ready for him to try it on.
Of course, I was hoping that the pants would just suit him miraculously, but unfortunately some adjustments need to be made.

First the fitting is not correct, Told ya I did some alterations... I tug a bit here and there until it fits him. Done!

Second, the zipper is weak and short, so I replaced the zipper with the bigger one.... hopefully stronger.... and longer. Too bad the color is black. Not just that, I forgot how to attach the front fly zipper,.... so I  re-do a few times.

Third, apparantely he likes his pants to sit between the hip and the waist, mmmhhh... for instance, I only wear low waist for pants and skirt... so for this I agree with him. To adjust to his needs, I lower the waistline by taking 3cm off from the top part.

.... and somehow the side pockets are too heavy for the pants, I know it's due to its material. The material is not fantastic for this type of pattern, it is sort of big fibre cotton, I'm sure there is a name for this type of cotton. I took off one of the side pockets, .... not much of a help though. I even ruin the fabric a little bit ... ;(

After the ordeal, the pants is ready,... still I'm not satisfied, I can do better than that, if only I use different material .... so not cool.
Oh, I don't know if its going to shrink or not after washing.... what a waste of a hardwork if it is going to be ...

Picture
He thinks he can get away from my "signature"?... hahaha think again!

Playa Arena is ....
about (more or less) 10 km away from where I live with car. One of the tourist area, very close to Los Gigantes. The beach itself is not that big, but yesterday I was surprised to see so many people there, the beach was crowded. I actually went to try my new bikini, I was happy. I really like my bikini, I've should buy another. I didn't have the picture of my bikini,... I get all distracted by the amount of people on the beach. I was happy and relaxed, that's all that counts.

Do you see many people standing on the edge of the beach,... yup they were waiting for the waves to hit them. I was there, I followed what people doing, ...  I almost drowned, I couldn't escape fast enough when the waves came, I couldn't run bcoz the sands under my feet drags me toward the ocean instead of helping me to reach the shore.... **what am I babbling about...? The waves was very big and tall... but short.... likes small tsunami. I got all wet and covered with black volcanic sands. It was fun though.

The dark orange cassaca I was wearing is made by me when I was still in Bologna. The material is an Indian silk, one of my favourite bcoz it's light for the hot weather like now. The material is a gift from my sister in law, bought in India, the best gift someone ever gave me,... apart from my new laptop...(my 30th bday gift!). To me parfume and shoes are no longer my favourite gift.... oh yeaa,,,, don't ever buy me clothes... never! but buy me fabric instead pleassseeeee........
The temperature was 31 degrees, but humid ... makes even more feels hot. Even so, I still like summer more than winter.
